SC/ST Cell – Dr. G. K. Dongargaonkar Law College

The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) Cell at Dr. G. K. Dongargaonkar Law College is committed to promoting equity, inclusivity, and empowerment for students from historically marginalized communities. Guided by the constitutional vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Cell works actively to ensure that SC and ST students are provided with the resources, support, and environment needed to thrive academically, professionally, and socially in the legal education system.

Our primary goal is to cultivate a welcoming and respectful academic atmosphere where students from SC and ST backgrounds feel safe, represented, and encouraged to participate fully in all aspects of college life.

The Cell facilitates academic assistance through mentoring, remedial sessions, and peer-to-peer guidance, aimed at helping students overcome barriers and reach their full potential in the field of law.

We regularly organize seminars, lectures, awareness drives, and cultural programs that address the challenges faced by SC and ST communities, while also educating the wider student body about social justice, equality, and the constitutional values of affirmative action.

Our efforts include ensuring SC and ST students have access to internships, scholarships, training programs, and placement support. We guide them in exploring career paths within the legal profession, judiciary, civil services, and academia.

Recognizing the emotional and socio-economic challenges that some students may face, the Cell provides guidance and referral services for psychological counseling, financial aid support, and personal development.

Students are encouraged to participate in legal literacy drives, legal aid camps, and other outreach programs focused on social upliftment, thereby nurturing a strong sense of civic responsibility and commitment to justice.

We work closely with college authorities and relevant bodies to implement inclusive policies, monitor grievance redressal mechanisms, and ensure adherence to government and university-mandated reservation policies and welfare schemes.
